Off With His Head

When the bad whackadoodle tries to make a mile out of the inch you didn't even give him - OH, YOU FOOLISH MORTAL!  Off with his head!

:)  I know you're stalking me again on social media.  I would think twice about that if I were you.  Oh, and tell your wife hello for me.

Life After Employment

Ok, so I can't call in sick any more cause I don't have a "job".  My new job is taking the night shift and Saturdays and Sundays with Dad. In case you don't know, my dad is in late-stage Parkinson's Disease.  Slow to sometimes no mobility.  He needs help getting out of bed, getting dressed and into and out of his lift chair.  He can't prepare meals, but at least he can feed himself.  It takes almost 2 hours for him to eat a meal.  He sits in his lift chair with a bib (from which he picks food and eats it) using a tray.  About the only thing he can still do for himself is go to the bathroom, but he sometimes needs help getting onto and off of the toilet.  He was never a big talker to begin with, but Parkinson's has made him mostly non-verbal.  Lots of times you have to force him to make eye-contact with you in order for him to acknowledge what you are saying.

I am not complaining.  This is much harder on him than on me.  But the truth is, being the caregiver of a parent generally sucks ass.  Yes, I have read all the motivational crap about this being a time to "bond" with said parent, especially since adulthood separates children and parents.  It does, however, require the willingness of both parties to bridge that gap and TRY to make a relationship.  When my dad first came to live with us, I sat on the couch next to him every..single..night for about 6 months.  Watching the same shows over and over again (hmmm, reminds me of toddlerhood), commenting on said shows or even opening a different topic.  I got zero response.  It was like talking to a wall.  I wracked my brain for the little extra things I could do for him.  The things I do for people I love. Because I love them, not because I want kudos or reciprocation.  Those things mattered less to him than my attempts at verbal communication,

Oh, did I mention yet that apathy goes hand-in-hand with a Parkinson's Disease diagnosis?  Cause it does.  Trying to help someone who could give a shit less about helping themselves is like banging your head against the wall.  Why bother?  I am a "fixer".  And I can't fix this.  It is not going to get better.  In fact, it is going to get exponentially worse.  There are plateaus in between the declines.  A blessing?  Somewhat, but they tend to lull you into a false sense of security of stabilization.  There is no such thing as "stable" with Parkinson's.  You fix one thing, and twelve other things go haywire.  For instance, consequential reasoning is now gone.  He can only walk with a walker (a rollator one).  I can tell him all day long (and WHILE he is doing the thing), that if he leans over to pick something up off the floor, he will fall down.  He still leans over.  If I am not right there to stop him, he will fall.  Sometimes, we have to call rescue for fall-assist.  Because he is 130+ pounds of dead weight and I barely weigh 115.  I have strained both wrists and pinched both sciatic nerves.  Bumps, bruises, scrapes.  Nothing compared to what he deals with every day, I know.  I can only compare it to having a fully-grown toddler.

So, I still have Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm "to myself" when the daytime caregiver comes. Since I quit my job April 1, I have reworked my garden, cleaned out the garage and made 3 trips to Goodwill.  I have completely re-done my kitchen and even repainted my kitchen table and chairs.  I have cleaned out cabinets and closets.  Done lots of beautification projects.  Added a gazebo to my patio so I have a sanctuary.  I have billions of reasons to be happy and content.  My time off from caregiving is wonderful.  But, somehow, it tends to make the time on-duty even more excruciating.  A taste of freedom......Saturdays and Sunday have become exhausting.  Getting him up, dressed and fed in the morning takes almost 2 hours.  Then there is lunch.  And dinner.  And bedtime.  Ah, bedtime, right?  Nope.  Parkinson's also comes with insomnia.  Even when Dad can get to sleep, he doesn't stay asleep.  Every time he wakes up, he wants to go to the bathroom.  This is sometimes 5-6 times a night.  He has a call button and I have the pager (receiver).  I fucking hate the sound of that thing.  Truly.  He doesn't really have to pee.  He is on dialysis now, so his kidneys make practically no output.  He will sit in his lift chair ALL DAY LONG and never go to the bathroom.  But, oh boy, at night???  Are you freaking kidding me?

I still have 2 teenagers, 2 cats, college and a household to maintain.  I pay all the bills.  I am responsible for household inventory control, management and procurement.  Meal prep, serving and clean-up.  Medication control, management and procurement and dispensing.  Oh, and did I mention laundry?  Someone said to me when I first got my dad, "Oh, you would be doing all those things anyway."  Yeah, I would love for that person to come be me for a full 24 hours.

Sometimes, like right now writing this, I can't stand to hear myself.

I am not making fun of my Pops.  But Parkinson's????  That is one real whackadoodle.

Quit the Job You Hate

Well, Whackadoodle-doo, y'all!  I did it.  I finally quit the stinking job that was making me doubt my own awesomeness.  Hell, it made me doubt there was any awesomeness left in the whole wide world. When I tell you it was soul-sucking, I am talking on a Dyson level.

I liked the process of what I did (mostly).  I liked the actual place; and I made some really, truly, super-awesome great friends.  Those are the things that kept me there far longer than was good for my mental, emotional, and physical health.  I am sad to be leaving them.  I know my friends will always be my friends and I can go and visit the place any time I want, without becoming entangled in the crap that finally flipped my switch.

I may have mentioned the...well.....not sure exactly what to call this manager.  We have lots of nicknames for her, but they would only be relevant if you had the great misfortune of knowing her personally.  Can you picture a dark, swirling, ANGRY vortex of crushing negative energy?  Now, cram that inside a short, squat, human body; really stuff it down in there nice and tight so it is trying to explode constantly.  (Kinda like the Tasmanian Devil on that cartoon. Seriously, some days there was actual snarling.) Now you got a pretty good idea of what I'm talking about.  I wish I was kidding y'all.

Seven and a half years I dealt with this narcissistic, belittling, bullying, micromanaging mess.  Can I just tell ya, I am SO grateful I found a way out.  Want to throw a lifeline to my BFFL; hope she finds a way out soon!

I just wanted to tell y'all the good news.  Not sure where the road is heading from here, but I am glad to say that within a week, I'll be looking at that sh*t in the rearview.  Hopefully, now I will have time to talk to y'all again.  Till next time, Whackadoodle-doo, y'all!

Merry Happy Freaking Holidays

So, Christmas, right?  The struggle is real, yo.  Not only have the cats pulled ornaments off the tree, they've torn open wrapping paper and destroyed bows.  Ok, so no bows and double-wrap ALL the presents.  Crap.

Also, my dad's daytime caregiver picked the 12 days of Christmas to go off the rails; or at least, this is when the truth came to light.  Lying about her mileage, leaving during her shift to run a personal errand, during which time he fell, taking him with her on another personal errand, and being an hour late without letting me know.  So, she's getting fired for Christmas.

Then, my 12-year-old son decided he is not coming home for Christmas due to his father's Jehovah's Witness cult bullshit.  I totally lost my shit for a minute or ten - with his dad, not him.  I understand he is torn.  At first, I thought, "well, this ruins Christmas".  But guess what?  I get to spend it with my daughter - just the two of us like before my son was born.  Well, the three of us, since my Dad lives here, too.  :)

Oh, yeah, and Dad; well, only one of his other children has made plans to see him for Christmas.  Seriously?  Merry freaking Noel.  So, Happy Holidays, Dad, and thanks for always supporting us, but eff you, we're too busy having fun to show you any love and respect.  About what I expected, but still disappointing, to say the least.  This will be his first Christmas as a widow, too.

So, Christmas, right?  The struggle is too real.

Whackadoodle-doo, y'all.

Flingers of Poo

Ever get a truly nasty communication from someone you condsidered (and who claimed to be) your best friend?  I mean, an email that started off with, "First of all, Fuck you."  Followed by pages and pages of putrid verbal vilification,

Obviously, this kind of attack is nothing less than incendiary and solves absolutely nothing.  However, I consider it a gift from the Universe.  Totally.  Because no matter how angry I am at a friend, I would never say the big FU to them unless I was ready for that relationship to be O.V.E.R.  Not saying I have never been guilty of letting my anger direct a communication.  But I rarely go for the jugular and sling all kinds of character assassinations at people.

In this particular instance, a true friend told me that this person seems to be speaking from a perspective of guilt and is projecting a bunch of their own psychoses onto me.  Whatever.  Guess what?  I do not have to allow it.

Still wading through the Whackadoodles, y'all.

Half Lit

Ok, when you think of a senior citizen, you probably picture something like this:

Sure you do.  Who wouldn't?  But, what if you had THIS instead:

Imagine taking your dad to the drugstore because he wants sex lube.

That is all.

Congratulations, Graduate!

So, tomorrow, my daughter graduates from high school.  Everyone asks me if  I will cry...HELLZ, YEAH, tears of JOY and RELIEF, cause I never thought we'd make it!  My daughter is very smart, but she doesn't give a rat's fat hairy ass what anyone else thinks of her (GOOD FOR HER!), including people who want to grade her on something.  I understand this because I was outraged in junior high that you could actually fail art class.  I was infuriated when my teacher gave me a less-than-satisfactory grade on something I created. And, I kind of had the same melt-down in Lit class when a teacher said someone's interpretation of a poem we were studying was incorrect.  HELLO, people, art is subjective.  All art.  Including music, thank you very much to my mother critic who constantly told me I was playing something wrong on the piano.  If I am in the moment and feeling something a bit differently than it is written, that is my interpretation.

I have done my best to foster her sense of individuality; I don't want her to be like the majority of society. That said, I have also tried to impress upon her the importance of following some of the rules.  You know, the ones that will only cause you incredible difficulty if you don't obey them.  Legal things aside, I mean how to appear to conform without actually conforming.  Unfortunately, I think DNA from her father negates her ability to understand.  One of my greatest heartaches.

I know I have to let her follow her own path.  Watching it all unfold is the heartache.  My friend Sadie said it best when she called this Mommyaches.  Here's a link to her story:

Domestic Bliss

So, today, on a whim much-needed break from things I do for everyone else, I did something for me.  I cleaned out kitchen cabinets and re-organized everything.  Sounds like a chore, but order from chaos is something I need crave.  Daily.  Especially since Pops came to live with us.  It all happened so fast that my entire household was upside-down.

He asked if I was cleaning out cabinets and I said, "Yes, am I bothering you?"  He said, "It's a lot of noise." Now, that was my perfect opportunity to remind him that he has a tv and a recliner in his room.  But, I followed my "raising" and stuffed those emotions right back down where they belong.  And promptly put my earbuds back in, turned up my music, and started intentionally making a lot more noise.  Childish, I know, but it FELT GOOD.  :)

My creative outlet has been cooking for a very long time, but there IS no time for that now.  So, I have adopted the "store-bought" approach to nearly everything.  I feel a twinge that I am not giving my loved ones the best possible nutrition.  But at this point, it is their health versus my sanity. Sanity wins.  In a very big way.

Gotta run.  Lots more noise to make.

Whackadoodle-doo, y'all!

Family Matters

So, family drama.  It's the best, ain't it?  Family will be the first to fuck you over, emotionally, in my experience.  The Mother Demon raised a totally dysfunctional family; only two of us seem to have learned what love really means.  Good for us.

The other two: full of empty promises and non-communication.  That's fine.  Just stop lying about caring about each other.  And pretending we all love each other.  If you don't return a text, email, Facebook message, or voice mail, the fact of the matter is, you just don't fucking care.  "I'm so busy" is just an excuse.  People make time for what is important to them.

So, when I call you out on your fake, empty crap, you turn on me??  I'm the bad guy?  So, you're not going to speak to me any more?  THANK GOD, FINALLY, I HAVE A CONCRETE ANSWER ON YOUR POSITION.  Which I have known all along, anyway.  Just wanted you to state it for the record.

See, y'all, I have been studying Whackadoodles my whole entire life, and it started with my family.

Real Life

Boy, oh boy, if I could figure this out, I'd make a bajillion dollars. There are SO MANY PEOPLE on my list of  BLOCK YOU FOR REALZ.

Of course, ex-husbands top the list.  Cause no matter how much time has passed, it seems like at least once a week something happens that reminds me I want to punch each of them right smack dab in the kisser.  Even if it broke my hand.  >:p

Next, bad bosses.  I don't have any grudges against past bad bosses, cause they are history.  Current bad boss:  OH YEAH.  Super duper BLOCK YOU FOR REALZ.

Here's part of the rest of my list:
     Narcissists
     Sociopaths
     Liars
     Manipulators
     The Entitled
     Drama Queens/Kings
     Pissants
     Slackers
     Whiners
     Cry-babies
Catfuckers (click this link to find out more)
     Douchebags
     Mondays

I am sure I can add more.

Who's on YOUR list?

Flashbacks

I thought boyfriends/ex-husbands were whackadoodles. They got nothing on your live-in aging parent.  Having my dad around all the time is causing some serious flashbacks to the glory days of EH1 and EH2 (ExHusband 1 & 2).

The phrase, "get it your damned self" keeps running through my brain.  And also "a little please and thank you never hurt anybody."  Is my Pops just old-school misogynistic, or is it the Parkinson's?  I think a little of both.  If I ask (TELL) him to do something, he is happy to do it.  It just rarely occurs to him to take the initiative on ANY thing, except chasing the big P (WOMEN).

Now, I do consider myself a great caretaker.  I have been taking care of other folks since I can remember. And it brings me a certain amount of joy to do all those little things.  Except that those little things are always taken for granted and then expected.  And then you get resentful.  And the sneaky hate spiral (click that link for some more fun) begins.  Which usually ends with me drinking some vodka and crying myself to sleep.

Trying to see this as a blessing.  If I didn't have y'all to talk to, I don't know what I'd do!

Whackadoodle-doo to the max, y'all!

Mother's Day Can Eat My Shorts

Yep, I said it.  Mother's Day can eat my shorts.  Not one person in this family, which now includes my elderly father, offered to do one GD thing for me today.  Not one.  The Father insisted I take him for a mani-pedi, but didn't even offer me one.  Seriously?  I do everything but wipe his ass.  Never mind that I had a bajillion chores to do (since I worked at my JOB all day on Saturday), and a few things I wanted to do for myself, since I knew NO ONE WOULD FUCKING OFFER TO DO ANYTHING FOR ME.

Of course, the day started off foul because the prior evening, as we were watching the news (kill me now), The Father commented to me about his now-deceased wife's vagina.  Straw that broke the camel's back, y'all.  Is it the Parkinson's?  Who knows.  He is quite inappropriate and apparently obsessed with his weiner and wants to share all kinds of juicy tidbits about his past with me.  Ummm, hello?  I am your DAUGHTER and a WOMAN.  Misogynistic pig.  And I am now his sole caretaker.  Joy, oh joy.

And, also, since MY mother was a fire-breathing dragon with narcissistic personality disorder, the very last thing I want to do is give her glowing reviews on Facebook.  Difficult enough to see everyone else posting about how their mother was their best friend, blah-blah-blah.  Mine was my mortal enemy until I was in my 30's and had a granddaugher-on-the-way to hold over her head and make her behave.  It was all I could muster to send her a card, which was not ooey-gooey, by any stretch of the imagination.  She is shallow and self-absorbed and now pretends to have Alzheimer's to get attention.  Sorry, lady, I am busy.

Next year, I am going away some place for the Mother's Day weekend BY MYSELF.

Whackadoodle-doo, y'all.

The Hydra

Seriously, Whackadoodle-hydra, can you please stop now?  If you are unfamiliar, click the highlighted word "hydra"; basically, they are something like this:

For every head you cut off, two more grow in its place.  Unstoppable.  Unbelievable.  Truly.  The dude actually called ME a hydra...not sure why....maybe it has something to do with PROJECTING.

It has been 21 months since I invited this whackadoodle to leave my life.  And..he..still...texts.  Now, I know I could block his number (thank you Apple), but then I wouldn't be quite able to monitor the level of crazy.  I am just simply stunned.

At the fact that he still texts and the absurdity of the subject matter and that his purpose is completely beyond me.  That's right, I, Wanda, am puzzled by this Whackadoodle.  Just when I thought I had them pegged.

One day it will be song lyrics; the next, some horrific insult (as if his opinion of me mattered in the slightest).  His most recent missive was some crap about  how he could cook an over-easy egg better than I can......even though he later said he was cooking egg whites...and why in the holy hell do I care??!  "Oh, wait, that changes EVERYTHING. I want you back"....is that what he is hoping for??

Now, I know that I am super wonderful and all, but I don't think I really scar people.  They do that all by themselves.  It must be dreadful to be told by Heaven to leave.  ;)

Love and light, y'all!

Non Responders

Whackadoodle-doo, y'all!  I guess I could kinda accuse myself of this lately, since I haven't been posting for awhile.  But we'll get to me another time.

I am talking about those people in your life, yes, even FAMILY MEMBERS, who simply never respond to texts, voice mails, emails, FB messages, etc.  Is this not the height of rudeness to y'all?  I mean, I don't expect anyone to drop what they're doing just because they hear from me.  But a response within a few days' time is expected.  Even if it is just a "too fucking busy for you".

Here's what Miss Manners has to say about responding to electronic communications.  (click that highlighted "Miss Manners" link).

Honestly, the only people to whom I do not respond are the whackadoodles whom I have invited to leave my life.  But a friend or family member always gets a response from me.  Usually right away.  Why, good grief, if someone reaches out to me with love, with a joke, with a request for advice, I want to let them know I appreciate them thinking of me and help if I can.

The only message I can take from someone who does not respond (even to a direct plea for communication) is that they just don't give a fat rat's ass about being in my life (and gosh, it took me a long time to learn that lesson).

So, what do you do when a situation technically requires someone else's participation and they decline to answer you?  Why, you make the damned decision yourself and tell them to go take a flying leap.  :)

I mean, life is way too short to let someone make your face do this

>:<

Hope to talk with y'all again real soon.

Love and light~

The Psychopath

If I leave a trail of breadcrumbs (blood), will they follow me to the abyss????

Seriously, EH2, after 5  years, is starting his sh*t again, y'all.  EH1 is on the brink.  Dude from Hell has a funky aura about him again.  And the most-recently-banished Whackadoodle is texting me again.

This, to me, is scientific proof that they ARE, after all, attracted to my bright white light....cause I have been feeling GREAT lately.  That's always when they start.

DAMMIT, gotta figure out how to adjust my frequency before they drive ME whackadoodle!

Put Your Best Foot Forward

So, I saw this story in the news:

Hobe Sound beachgoer finds human foot in shoe

Published On: Jan 02 2014 10:59:30 AM EST
HOBE SOUND, Fla. -
A woman taking a walk found a sneaker with a human foot inside under some sea grass at Peck Lake Park on the north end of Jupiter Island.
Martin County Sheriff's deputies, air units and dogs searched the park on New Year's Day, but didn't find any other remains.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Christine Weiss told the Palm Beach Post that the foot was taken to a crime lab. She says the sheriff's office is working with other agencies to determine whether there are any missing persons in the area.

The woman made the discovery around noon on Wednesday.

No further details were immediately available.

Merry Freaking Christmas, Y'all!

So, it's come to this, eh?

Seriously, y'all?  What the yuck!?  Is this Joy to the World?  I think not!  God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen?  No way.  Unless the "rest" is being knocked out from a sucker punch.

Although, I must admit this is how I mostly feel during this "holiday season" whenever I have to go anywhere near a stupid mall.......

These dudes definitely qualify as Whackadoodles of the Season.

And then there was this:

5 arrested as police disperse hundreds at theater

62 Jacksonville police officers responded to Northside mall Christmas night

As police broke up a disturbance involving hundreds of young people outside a Northside theater on Christmas night, two young men and an three juveniles -- one a teenage girl -- were arrested.
Police say when the Regal River City Marketplace Theater was rushed by 25-30 people without tickets, an officer working off-duty used pepper spray to turn back the crowd, then called for backup.More than 60 officers responded to the Regal River City Marketplace theater around 8:30 p.m. when an officer working off duty could not control a crowd estimated as high as 750 people.
Officers began using loud speakers began going through the crowd asking people to disperse.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says it took just over an hour to break up the crowd -- some shouting profanities at police.
There were no reports of serious injuries or gunfire. A safe zone was setup for parents and guardians to reunite with their children.
"Our response was quick and effective," said JSO spokeswoman Lauri-Ellen Smith. "Our job is to keep people safe, first and foremost, obviously and that's what our officers did. They do that through tactical activities through crowd control by sequestering the group and again, keeping these folks safe, determining who's fighting, who's not."
3 melee arrestsOn Thursday, police released the names and booking photos of the two young adults and one juvenile accused of felonies, including resisting arrest with violence.
According to the arrest reports, Tevyn Davis, 19, Jaquade Miller, 18, and Khalil Bradley, 17, not only refused to disburse, but took a "fighting stance" toward police and actively resisted arrest.  Miller is accused of swinging at an officer with a closed fist.
The juveniles' identities were withheld because they were only charged with misdemeanors: a boy charged with resisting officer without violence and a girl charged with public nuisance, refusal to disperse and resisting an officer without violence.
Smith said the investigation is ongoing.

Help, I'm Alive

"My heart keeps beating like a hammer..."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoK63Bk7pgw

Whackadoodle-doo, y'all!  Yep, I'm still alive and kicking....miraculous, ain't it?  Wanda's World of Whackadoodles (WOW) has been keeping me busy.  If it ain't one thing, it's another, right?  ;)

I have to say, the current lingering Whackadoodle is seriously making my face do this ------>    >:<   After seven whole months, he is still reaching out to touch someonething---my psyche.

And while I admittedly do not give a rat's hairy ass about his opinion of me, it still stings a little when someone hits you with their best shot.  Which naturally causes me to re-examine every...single..little..thing.. Stupid catfucker (click the word "catfucker" for the story behind this delightful Oh-So-Wanda's vocabulary word).

Now, don't misunderstand:  I do not miss him.  I do not think I made the wrong decision in cutting him loose.  Not one teen-eye-nsee little bit.  It's the character assassinations that really get me hopping mad (picture Yosemite Sam) and make me want to stab him in the face.  Repeatedly.  With scissors. Those crinkly pinking shears kind.  (Note to NSA, policia, etc:  I said "WANT TO" stab him in the face with scissors, not "going to".)  So now I am angry (emotion) and helpless (emotion) and also disgusted (emotion?).  And all I can do is not reply.  Maintain radio silence.  And calm the fuck down.

Nothing a good martini and some girl talk therapy won't fix.  :)

Until next time, Whackadoodle-doo, y'all!

Out of the Whackadoodle Closet

Whackadoodle-doo, y'all!  I know it's been awhile, but I've been busy counteracting Post-Traumatic-Whackadoodle-Stress-Syndrome.  It fries your brain!!

So, the Whackadoodle Closet: Oh, if I only had a nickel for every time a Whackadoodle jumped out of his closet with both feet, I'd be a wealthy woman!  Thing is, they obviously KNOW they are Whackadoodles, or they wouldn't be trying to be someone they aren't.  And it damn sure isn't a good surprise when they reveal their true identities.  Not like when Superman revealed to Lois Lane that he was really Clark Kent and she was in ecstasy that the two men she was the most hot for were actually the same person.  LUCKY HER.

No, when a Whackadoodle comes out of his closet, it is a WTF moment, for sure.  As in:  WTF, how did I not see that this jackass is a Whackadoodle?  Or, WTF, does he seriously think I want a Whackadoodle in my life?  Or, WTF, yo, what up with the Whackadoodle chiz??  And, also, WTF, how do I get rid of this Whackadoodle?!?!?!

PSA:  Most Whackadoodles, once discovered, do not slink away quietly into the good night.  Oh, no, they want to stick around and A) prove why you should keep them, and B) dissect you and your psyche and C) fling all their emotional poo at you.  (SHIELDS UP!).  And some of them (like my most recent ex-Whackadoodle) are not the least bit deterred by radio silence or the threat of legal action.  **SIGH**  The psyche dissection is my most favorite part of the whole thing.   I LOVE for someone as qualified as a Whackadoodle to tell me every single thing that is wrong with me mentally and emotionally without responding to defend myself.  But flinging poo back at a Whackadoodle just gets them all excited and thinking that there is still a chance you will take them back.  NOT!

So, PTWSS has wiped me out, but I am on the mend and hope to be back with a video post really soon.  I miss talking to y'all!
